Historians use particular terms to refer to a specific time in history.

  • Timeline - A sequence of events in chronological order(Shown above)
  • BCE - Short for 'Before Common Era', and refers to the number of years before the birth of Jesus Christ.
  • CE - Short for 'Common Era', and refers to the year after Jesus Christ was born.
  • Chronology - The arrangement of past events, starting with the event that occurred first.
  • Circa - Around (this time).
  •  Century - A period of a 100 years.
  • Periods - One way of referring to different times in history is to divide it into periods or different blocks of time.
  • Dynasties - A line of rulers who belong to the same family/The number of years when a region or country is continuously ruled by members of the same family.
